Hello. I am Azarel Christopher (as you guys may or may not know), but you can call me Azarel. I am thirteen years old, and I am here to share my hobbies!

First off, I’m going to start with music. I absolutely love music. I listen to music while showering; after waking up; before going to sleep; and even now, while writing this.

I like to analyze music, trying to decipher the meanings behind the lyrics, and also focusing on the sounds layered below the vocals, such as some soft piano, the drums, an ominous sound, etc..

I have liked music since I was a baby. My mom used to play classical songs on TV all day. After I got a little older, I started listening to songs my dad played, which was old songs from the ’90s and long before such as Led Zepellin, Queen, The Beatles, and many more. After that, I started to listen to a lot of techno artists such as Skrillex, Marshmello, Martin Garrix, and other similar artists. Then my musical interest seemed to jump around genres, going from rap/hip-hop, to rock, to emo, to metal, and then going into a mix of all of them.

My favorite musical artist is twenty one pilots (top). I love top because they have deep lyrics that make you think. Their producing is very, very, good; and Tyler Joseph can sing like an angel, and scream like a demon. The musical genres I listen to the most are mostly emo, metal/rock, rap/hip-hop, and songs from the ‘90s and before. I don’t usually listen to the mainstream songs on the radio, because even though they are catchy, the songs usually have shallow meanings and average lyrics.

Next, we’re moving on to football. I have been playing football since I was four years old, but I didn’t really dive into the sport (looking at transfer rumors, the best players in the world, who won the FIFA Club World Cup, etc.) until the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

I really like football, because it is actually more of a tactical sport rather than a physical one. Most people only see the goals and the skills, but they don’t notice the tactics behind the game. They don’t notice the tactical genius of players like Xavier Hernandez. They don’t notice how vital Busquets and Casemiro are to their respective clubs. They don’t notice the subtle details that can change a game completely.

As Andrea Pirlo once said: “You play football with your head. Thee feet are only tools.”

My next hobby is chess. I’ve been playing chess since three, but never really put in some effort in studying it until I was ten.

I like chess because it is rather similar to football. Involving many calculations and tactics which will appear to be non-existent to the untrained eye. Chess games have almost infinite possibilities on what can happen in one single game. A game of chess can be slow and laid-back, but it can also be a thrilling game full of suspense from start to finish.

I like to watch chess games and tactical analyses on YouTube. They are interesting and can really improve my chess.

Studying has always been a hobby to me, ever since I was a little kid, but the subject that has always stood out to me was cosmology and astronomy.

Every time I study those subjects, they never cease to amaze me. I always find new, interesting information every time I study it. Other than that, I also love coming up with conspiracy theories and coming up with “what if” scenarios.

My next hobby is studying philosophy. I have “studied” philosophy since I was seven years old.

I like philosophy because I like to think and ponder about questions that have no answers. I’ve always been a light sleeper, but a heavy dreamer.

My favorite philosopher is Soren Aabye Kierkegaard. He is my favorite philosopher because he’s known as the first existential philosopher. Some people call him a depressed, anxious, wreck - but that’s a reason why I like him. People with the most problems are usually the wisest ones.

Now last, but not least, is obviously: writing.

I have been writing since I was about three years old; writing some short fictional stories. Growing up, I started writing more, just for fun. I would just write about any random thing that will come into my mind.

I took writing seriously since 2017. I joined a writing forum, with action and adventure being the main genres. I made some friends at the forum and had my writing skills increase dramatically.

I got completely obsessed with the forum, checking it daily. I used to write every day, and challenge other forum members to some writing events.

Sadly, the forum shut down at the end of 2018. Therefore, I am still searching for a writing forum that I can call “home”.
